Philippines Still Lacks a Cybercrime Law

This is a reaction to the featured article in the Philippine Daily Inquirer titledPNP slams lack of RP laws against cybercrime in which the PNP through the CIDG lamented the lack of cybercrime law in the Philippines due to the propensity of our lawmakers-- congressmen and senators-- to quarrel, destabilize, and criticize one another instead of make laws which is their raison d'etre.

I personally agree that this country needs a lot of laws to be drafted, not like the Manny Pacquiao saying we have enough laws that only need implementing. He's right though on the latter part.

I know the people lobbying and drafting the proposed cybercrime bill still pending, and not surprisingly, will again be relegated as low priority by lawmakers who prioritize disbursement of their pork barrel. What always happen is that sponsoring senators and congressmen would call hearings and hearings then bring the proposed bill to the bottom of the heap for the nth time.

I've experienced working with both the NBI Anti-Fraud and Cybercrime Division and CIDG counterpart group on certain cases in the past, even saw the NBI's modern equipment donated by the US (that only a few men knew how to use properly)

The proposed bill should be prioritized. RA8792, otherwise known as the E-Commerce Act is not enough to pin down miscreants on the net, but it doesn't mean that its passage can really deter evil men from doing their thing.

JAP: Anonymity and Privacy on the Internet

Here's one of the new (relatively, that is) way to stay anonymous in the Internet by hiding your true IP address and instead show a single IP address shared by many users. JAP works more securely in anonimizing when there are more users of the system.


A simple installation is required where you configure the port number to be used by JAP to accept connections (default is 4001) then you point your browsers to use localhost and port as proxy.

There is an option to use a proxy for JAP (when you're forced or want another layer of proxy to hide) that is absent from another anonymizing technology TOR that I already blogged of here.

TENS: Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation

The what?

never mind the long name; simply call it TENS. TENS is simply application of very mild electric shock to certain parts of the body to ease pain.

This process, which feels like a tingling sensation, claims to relieve pain although modern studies are still inconsistent to its efficacy.



what I know and feel is that the mild electric sensation simulates a massage and leaves my back, suffering from chronic back pains, asking for more after the twenty minutes of therapy.

Back in college,I experimented with a DIY TENS gadget bought in kit from in Manila and right now my sister is using one.

Add "Read More" Feature to Blogger (Expanding Posts)

Maybe you've noticed my Tutubi Patrol now has the new look and feel where I abbreviated the posts and added the "Read More" (actually a pagebreak) link to expand the posts on a separate page for Blogger/Blogspot blogs.

This expandable feature is what I root for in Blogger that Wordpress already have so I almost migrated this blog to Wordpress here but now I decided to continue using Blogger for some reason.

One of my Blogger friends, R.O. (actually we're friends way before this blog thing came aboout) asked me sometime ago how to do it but I didn't point him to the exact link nor did it myself. But since I'm now approaching the first anniversary of my blogs, I decided to give my Tutubi Patrol blog a facelift by making use of a new template and adding the "read more" to expand my posts thereby compressing the mainpage to save on bandwidth and agony for dial-up visitors.

Since my Tutubi Patrol site is still using the classic template, I only need to add a few lines of CSS code to my template as described in this article by Blogger and manually edit each post to insert the pagebreaks. Note I also enabled postpages for this feature to work.

If any of you need help in making a similar change to your blog, just drop a comment here and the tutubi will be seen hovering near you to help you out!
