I had my old HP nx9040 notebook replaced about 7 months ago with a shiny new Lenovo Y430 ideapad and everything seemed to work fine
until a few weeks ago when I noticed the screen flickering (sort of flashing) regularly every few seconds after boot up. It used to be only for a few minutes but lately become qutie annoying that I reported the problem to my office technical support.
I know it's not an LCD screen problem so I requested an LCD monitor to be temporarily used since it the flicker strains my eyes that I can't work anymore and stare at the computer screen.
The laptop is still under warranty and I requested for Lenovo Support Singapore (with office in Citibank Tower, Paseo de Roxas, Makati) through my supplier Zenshin.
Will post updates, actual problems, workarounds and solutions later
UPDATE: Lenovo replaced my notebook's LCD for free (took two weeks with Lenovo Philippines through Zenshin, my supplier) since it's still under warranty...a month before warranty expiry :P
Uncomplicating the Complicated stuff from a guy who's not can be really technical, with lots of ideas on hand but no time to blog.

Cheap MacBook Black in the Philippines?
I'm excited about this since I alreay passed the request for me to replace this aging notebook of mine, a Compaq nx9040, 3.5 years old already with a slight LCD damage to be replaced with an Apple MacBook Black.
It's not yet final but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my superiors will approve my request for the Apple cool stuff instead of just another Windows laptop. I wrote a formal request with my justifications including being able to use security and auditing tools available only in Mac OS X environment or those that run natively there plus the ability to test web applications if they can run flawlessly under the Mac OS particularly in using Apple's proprietary Safari browser.
I asked around for possible suppliers of cheap MacBooks with upgraded specifications, if there's such a word, and the least expensive quote I got was PhP73k including the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter to enable me to use a multimdedia projector for presentations.
Hope my request get approved soon and a shiny new MacBook delivered to me...otherwise the new laptop would just be another Windoze clone :(

Cheap Laptop LCD Repair/Replacement
My old Pentium 4 powered laptop, a Compaq Evo N610c's LCD got busted by my playful 4-year old niece while vacationing in Paete durig the Holy Week. I didn't tell my brother, now in Japan, about it since I might get "burned" due to my own fault. I only left it with my niece for a few seconds to get somehitng to drink and there she put a small stone on the keyboard, closed it voila, a small black mark on the screen already visible. that black mark inched its way to make the LCD screen's usable area to about a third of the total screen area.
I searched for possible replacements and got some hits on Google. Tried to call the posted numbers but they kept on quoting me a high price of PhP7k and higher.
This morning, after fetching my parents in Malabon to take them to Cubao and board the Sta. Cruz, Laguna bound bus of HM Transport, made it a point to pass by a place on Quezon Avenue in a building where Caxiopeia is located to ask around.
The laptop repair place is small but they seem to have a loyal customer base. The owner is also friendly. After waiting for about two hours, my notebook finally got a new LCD screen and only at PhP3,500.00...quite cheap, methinks!
I also requested for a memory upgrade of 512MB DDR with discount.
If you're also looking for laptop battery repair, they offer P400/cell battery repacking service.
The shop has a branch at St. Francis Square behing SM Megamall and in Glorietta in Makati.
