Fastest Mobile Internet: Smart Bro, Globe Tattoo, Sun Cellular Brodband Wireless?

Do you believe everything you see on tv? when SmartBro made commercials claiming 9 out of ten speed tests show it's faster than Globe Tattoo? And you believed that commercial crap?

As if Internet speed tests are really objective and also lacks various other parameters. For me, it all boils down to location, location, location

In Paete, Laguna, the fastest USB mobile broadband Internet there is Globe Tattoo. Smart Bro has very weak and intermittent signal. No Sun cellular 3G there the last time I went home

At home in QC and also in my Makati office, Sun Cellular reigns supreme...I can get the full 2 Mbps downloads except at certain times like 5pm like but still my Globe Tattoo and my officemate's Smart Bro can't match

If you're in doubt or want to leave a comment, please be objective. I will post actual speed test results here

Free Wi-Fi in Bangkok, Thailand

This is great news for Bangkok residents since the Thai government decided to give away free Internet access to the city's residents to allow them to communicate more and drive less in an apparent move to change the driving habits of Bangkok people and thus lessen energy requirements

Project is targeting 500000 people with 15,000 free wi-fi hotspots and to last for 1 year and require use of access card to use the facility.

Just hope that the network is secure and not open to eavesdropping

"Free" Wi-fi and Open Wireless Hotspots in Makati

I made a quick check of our new office somewhere in Makati and found several open wi-fi from nearby buildings. Some hotspots offer encryption but maybe unaware of the dangers of minimal security offered by their "secured" wireless Internet.

I got connected to an open connection in one conference room without doing anything but didn't proceed since that'd be unethical on my part not even fired up Netstumbler and other wireless security tools.

Open wireless hotspots is a common occurrence in Manila (and the Philippines) where people think convenience without an ear for privacy and security. Wardriving will net far too many places for freeloaders.

No law is present to deter freeloaders. The E-Commerce law doesn't contain a provision against it while the still pending cybercrime bill is in the doldrums if not plunged into the abyss of oblivion by good-for-nothing "lawmakers."
